2016 Designs in Review

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season behind us and a new year ahead I can’t help but look back – with a fantastic feeling of accomplishment – at everything my team and I were able to achieve in 2016. From the completion of one stunning project after another to the list of awards and recognitions we scooped up, this year was certainly one of the best yet.

I am so fortunate to work each day with a fabulous team that pours so much passion and creativity into each and every design project. Throughout the year, this dedication to our craft has produced some of my favorite designs to-date.

While this is certainly not a comprehensive list of the gorgeous works that resulted from the collaboration of the Laura U team in 2016, here are four of my favorite masterpieces that I keep going back to as I reflect on the past year.

Astoria

Located in the elegant Astoria High-rise, this sophisticated design was the product of the flawless work of our principle designer, Letecia Ellis Haywood, and interior designer Shenay Keyes. From the dynamic open floor plan created in the main living area (perfect for entertaining and taking in the breathtaking view) to the intricate details incorporated into each room, I absolutely love everything about this design and am so appreciative of the hard work that went into it!

Creekside

A collaboration between Letecia and our interior designer, Shannon Smith, this project is one of my favorites because it so perfectly defines my two interior design philosophies: classically current and livable luxury.  This fab design-duo did an amazing job blending classic pieces with hints of modern design elements to create spaces that are equal parts luxurious and family-friendly in each room of the house. A job well done, ladies!

Pine Hollow

On this project, our Laura U interior designer Blair Foster truly worked her magic to turn a full renovation into a mid-century modern paradise. In each room of the house, Blair skillfully designed each space to introduce modern elements to the design, while at the same time maintaining the timeless details provided in the original architecture of the home. The finished product resulted in a sophisticated blend of old and new – love, love, love!

Sandhill Shores

Destination interiors have always held a special place in my heart and this seaside oasis, masterfully engineered by Letecia and Shenay, is no exception! From the crisp, yet comfortable, aesthetic in each room to the splashes of color throughout, this project turned into a picturesque vision of a beachy get-away, and one of my favorite designs of the year.

While the designers credited for each project are responsible for the overall vision and execution of each of their designs, none of our projects would be possible without our amazing studio team who work behind-the-scenes to make sure the design process is flawlessly executed from start to finish. Our design assistant, Lexi Fink, our operations manager, Fabian Segura, our purchasing agent, Judy Sifuentes, our Administrative Assistant, Jeanifer Gonzales, and our fabulous interns, Adrianna & Lexie, thank you all for your hard work and dedication to bring all of our designs to life in 2016.

I cannot wait to take on the new year with this amazing and creative crew! Be sure to stay tuned for more designs coming out of the Laura U studio in 2017 and, in the meantime, visit us on Instagram and Pinterest for around-the-clock design inspiration.

Cheers to the new year!
