Top 5 Showrooms for Sourcing Kitchen & Bath “hard” surfaces

One of my favorite parts of remodeling or revamping a space for a client (or myself!) is choosing the materials we will use for surfaces like countertops, flooring, backsplashes and more. When you find the right one, you just know, and it truly makes the biggest difference in the overall look and feel of a room. It can easily elevate a lackluster kitchen into a sleek, modern space for entertaining, and some of our most stunning bathroom renovations include a complete tile overhaul.

So, here is just a little sneak peek into the resources we – and many other design firms in HTX – tap when we’re tackling a project that requires detailed tile and stone designs. There are a handful of expert partners here in Houston that we rely on to help us make our clients’ interiors stellar. Keep reading to learn more about our favorite Houston spots for sourcing the mind-blowing materials we use to give our designs a WOW factor.

Pomogranit Stones

Our friends at the Pomogranit Stones showroom, located just off of 290, are all about the process. They work closely with us to bring our visions to life from start to finish. With more than 400 different products to choose from in their massive showroom/interior slab yard, their dedication to personalization is unmatched (I could spend all day in there!). Once we sit down to discuss the project and choose a direction, they help us throughout the remainder of the project to make sure we stay within budget and deliver our orders on time. They always go above and beyond for us, which is why they are one of our preferred partners. They also have a lovely selection of Quartzite for even the most discerning clients.

Cosentino

The Cosentino Center has been around for 20 years in Houston but is a global company with Spanish roots. Their mission is to create inspiration in people’s lives through design – something I can surely identify with! They are also dedicated to working in the most sustainable and socially responsible ways possible, which is something we truly admire here at Laura U. The Houston team is made up of true professionals whose depth and breadth of knowledge always surprises me in the best way! Cosentino has helped us with slabs for some of our favorite kitchen and bathroom countertops, including those here in our design studio kitchen and bar (love!). Their showroom is stocked with Dekton and Silestone, which are two fabulous looking, no-nonsense, performance surfaces. Don’t miss their exclusive bathroom collection with integral basins. Swoon!

Walker Zanger

Our team is always on the lookout for natural stones that are long-lasting and beautiful. For this, we call our friends at Walker Zanger.  Their inventory of onyx, marble, travertine and much, much more never ceases to amaze us. They are experts in tile design with a collection boasting contemporary tiles and traditional stone mosaics. Pretty much a design mecca for stone and you are certain to find an inspiring design to build your room around.

Ann Sacks

Ann Sacks is true genius when it comes to tile and stone. From ceramic, glass and mosaic to metal, concrete and terra cotta, they truly offer a bit of everything and the quality and designs of the products are always perfection. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Ann Sacks team at their headquarters in Portland and was so inspired by their commitment to their craft. Not only do they consistently produce unique and durable pieces, but they also place a high priority on “Eco-Thinking,” meaning high-quality, long-lasting materials that tread lightly on the environment – a huge win in my book!

The new Liason collection by Kelly Wearstler is one of my absolute favorites to date! The blend of contemporary and classic influences in the pieces make for the perfect backdrop for a timeless interior.

La Nova Tile

We like to think of La Nova Tile as our “one-stop-shop” for some of the most stunning European tile lines, large scale porcelains for floors, and incredibly unique tile designs sourced personally by the owner of the company. Not only is their selection seriously impressive, but they also place a focus on working with artists and operating within the industry green standards, which we very much appreciate! Their process is so easy and they never skimp on service – I always look forward to working with their team and usually walk away understanding more of the story behind the tile designs I’m specifying, which we then pass along to our clients, making their home singular and special.

How amazing are these large format tiles from La Nova’s Isen collection? I love the chic, yet industrial, look they bring to the residential space.

Topping off a beautiful kitchen or bathroom with a gorgeous countertop or backsplash makes the space. It is incredible to see the intricate designs we have created on paper come to life in our clients’ homes. The showroom partners we value most not only carry the finest and most substantial offerings in the industry, they make me and the design team look really good to our clients. They deliver beautiful materials on time and on budget. You can’t ask for more!
