Well Thanksgiving has come and gone in the
blink of an eye. Now, let the Holiday count-
down begin! We hope you are excited about
buying gifts for your loved ones as we are. Here is a great gift guide via Vogue that will
fill all your gifting needs this year! I think our favorite on the list is somewhere between the Givenchi mini flower-print jacket and the Jonathan Adler socks! Both great finds.
Longtime restaurateur Tony Vallone, Tony’s GM Scott Sulma and Tony’s executive chef Grant Gordon have teamed up to open Vallone’s in the Gateway Memorial City development. Billed as a “modern classic” that brings a “technique-driven approach to steaks, seafood and homemade pasta,” the menu mixes steakhouse classics like wedge salads, French onion soup and dry-aged beef with Gordon’s widely celebrated, inventive pastas. Hastag NomNomNom.
I’m not blaming you, just like I’m not blaming myself for the extra helping of mashed potatoes we scored the following day or two after thanksgiving (I mean, someone had to eat them). But I am considering buying this Nike+Fuelband ($149) to help relieve the quotidian reminder of said event. Like the older model, the FuelBand SE tracks calories, steps, and Nike Fuel points, but the new model also tracks sleep. It also aims to improve calorie burn and Fuel point accuracy with a new feature that allows you to log different types of workout sessions.
First of all, if you haven’t seen the movie Elf, starring Will Ferrel, then I suggest you leave work or whatever marginal activity you’re doing now to make that happen. Not only will you feel left out of a huge pop-culture phenomenon that is at least referenced once daily, but you will also have a decent sized hole in your heart that is meant to be filled by the joy that watching Elf brings. Now, for fanatical fans such as I, Elf is coming to Houston via the Hobby Center. Don’t you know I’ve had my tickets nailed down since the day it was announced.
Thanksgiving, my absolute favorite holiday, is finally here and I couldn’t be more excited! This time of year always seems to sneak up on us and quickly develops into an eventful haze. Although we are super busy with wrapping up projects, I always take time to reflect on the things that I am thankful for.
Among my blessings are my family, my friends & our amazing company & team. I’m so appreciative for the incredible projects we get to work on and continued support of my company from our amazing clients. And none of this would be possible without the talented and tenacious people I’m surrounded by, and for them I am so grateful.
Words cannot express how thankful I am for my husband and beautiful girls. This year has been one of tremendous growth, learning and lots of laughter. You are the reason I get up in the morning and the people who give my life real meaning. I am lucky to be blessed by you each day.
We live in a fast paced society filled with many distractions and lots to keep us busy. I am as guilty of being muddled down as anyone. That is why I really love Thanksgiving. It’s a day of family, food (lots of food) and, most importantly, reflection.
I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and valuable time with friends and family today!
Our office employs a significant amount of Austin natives, therefore, it’s no surprise that we went hysterical when learning Pluckers is set to open in Houston, on Shepard north of Washington. We love the fried pickles, and everything else they offer on their palatable menu. We highly recommend you give this place a try if you haven’t already.
Madeline and the old House in Paris by John Bemelmans Marciano is our chosen read of the moment. Madeline and her favorite companion in mischief, Pepito, embark on their wildest adventure yet. When ghostly moans lead them to the attic of the old house in Paris, they discover Felix de La Morte, waiting for the return of a certain comet. With the comet due to return the very next day, the poor fellow’s telescope has been stolen by mean Lord Cucuface, and it is up to Madeline and Pepito to get it back.
I honestly believe that music is the best stress remedy, well, that which is attainable for no monies & not RX. After fortuitously landing on a site that prompted my computer to play “Don’t Wait”, by Mapei, I immediately felt alleviation. Don’t you just love when that happens?
In case you weren’t aware, Beyoncé runs the world, & Jay-Z doesn’t disappoint as a right-hand to said sovereign (more-so when he’s not holding a pitch-fork). Therefore, it was only a matter of time before a compilation of world renown artwork would be modified to incorporate the face of our treasured empress. I believe a new standard has been set for when you “know you’ve made it”. So, congrats, Gary Wood, Michaelangelo, and the rest of the artists to make the cut. See the entire assortment here.
