Every year, Hunter Douglas takes their show on the road with their Premieres events across the country. This past week I attended the Houston event! At their Premieres event, designers are invited to check out the latest product introductions and innovations. The event featured an hour long exclusive training class to learn about the latest Hunter Douglas offerings.

We were introduced to the newest products, fabrics, line updates and upgrades!  Hunter Douglas has some great new offerings for Spring 2014 including Duette Architella Trielle Elan, energy efficient honeycomb shades; Silhouette UltraGlide, one-click retractable cord shades; and Vignette LiteRise, modern roman shades with a cordless operating system.

We love the art scene here in Houston! Laura U Interior Design is a proud supporter of DiverseWorks ( The DiverseWorks Luck of the Draw event is the largest fundraiser of the year. Inwood Before & After| Art Inspired Kitchen Interior Design

Designing an interior around a piece of art that a client loves and cherishes is a recipe for success!

Our Inwood kitchen project concept was centered around a lithograph by the British contemporary artist, Damien Hirst. Our client had purchased this piece prior to finding their new home and wanted our team to build a room around it.

This kitchen design was a wonderful challenge; this gorgeous home was built in the 1920s by famed Architect, John Staub. The house is absolutely fantastic and we made no changes to the “bones” other than in the kitchen. The kitchen and breakfast room were originally divided into two small, dark spaces.
